Childhood Messages in the Garden Pt 2

S1E6: Childhood Messages in the Garden Pt 2

EPISODE NOTES

How do we release the childhood messages that no longer serve us? Join us, as my Dad and I explore this question in today's episode of Heart Gardening.

Continuing with the belief that all of our stories contain medicine, we open this episode by sharing stories from our childhoods that speak to some of the early messages that we received.

My Dad, Robert, goes on to reflect upon his lifelong workaholic tendencies, which stemmed from the childhood messaging he received. He speaks candidly to the fact that moving from being a human doing for most of his life, to being a human being is an ongoing process.

As we close out this episode, we discuss renowned psychotherapist Marilyn Murray’s concept of The Three Little Children.

The topic of childhood messaging is a big topic, and through exploring how our childhood messages shaped our identities, we are invited to write new, healing stories for ourselves.

Key Takeaways:

  • Reflecting on impactful moments from childhood can highlight a message that we may still be living out today.

  • Allowing ourselves to feel deeply and live in alignment with our truth is an important part of reparenting ourselves.

  • Marilyn Murray’s concept of The Three Little Children invites us to identify and connect with the child within us that needs attention, reparenting, and healing.
